GCSE Results - Class of 2025

Hungerhill Students Celebrate Fantastic 2025 Results!

We are delighted to share the wonderful success of our students in this year’s examinations. The 2025 results reflect the hard work, resilience and ambition of our students, alongside the dedication of staff and the support of families.

Some highlights from the Hungerhill GCSE results include:

  • Overall Attainment of 48.55, above the national average.
  • English and Maths saw excellent performances:
    • 54.1% of students achieved Grade 5 or above in both English and Maths (well above last year’s national figure of 46%).
    • 73.6% achieved a Grade 4 or above in both English and Maths.
  • In English, 82.7% of students secured at least a Grade 4, with 67.3% achieving Grade 5 or higher.
  • In Maths, 78% achieved Grade 4 or above, with over 55% reaching Grade 5 or above.
  • Science continues to achieve results above national averages: 73% of our students achieved a standard pass rate and 55.3% a strong pass rate. Very pleasingly, students in our separate Science cohort achieved a grade 5 or above in all 3 sciences.
  • In Languages, success was remarkable: over 91% achieved a standard pass, far exceeding national outcomes.
  • Humanities also impressed, with 67.6% securing a standard pass.
  • Students who study a vocational qualification have performed especially well, which is impressive given this is the second year of the new, more demanding specifications. In particular, Performing Arts and Sports Studies had an average grade of a Level 2 Merit, as did Art and Design Practice. Students studying the latter excelled with 13 distinctions, a very impressive performance!

These results demonstrate strong performance across the curriculum and importantly, these achievements extend across different groups of students:

  • SEN students made strong progress, with attainment rising compared with previous years.
  • Disadvantaged students also achieved above national levels in many measures, reflecting the impact of the school’s commitment to equity.
  • High prior attainers excelled, with average attainment scores reaching 67.96, surpassing national benchmarks.

This demonstrates Hungerhill’s success in supporting all students to achieve their potential, regardless of background or starting point.

Headteacher Mrs Crawford commented:

We are so proud of our students and everything they have achieved this year. These results are a true testament to their hard work, determination, and perseverance. What makes their success even more remarkable is the unique journey this cohort has been on. Having missed the chance to sit their Key Stage 2 SATs due to the disruption caused by Covid, these GCSEs were the very first full set of public examinations they have experienced. That presented an extra challenge — one that could easily have felt overwhelming — but our students approached it with resilience, creativity, and ambition.

They have not only risen to that challenge, they have exceeded expectations and achieved outcomes that will open doors to the next stage of their lives. We are confident that the skills and qualities they have demonstrated — adaptability, perseverance, and the ability to thrive under pressure — will serve them incredibly well in the future.

None of this would have been possible without the tireless commitment of our staff, who have gone above and beyond to provide exceptional teaching, encouragement, and pastoral care. We are also deeply grateful to our parents and families, whose support and belief in our young people have been a vital part of this success.

This is a cohort who should feel proud of themselves, both for their academic achievements and for the character they have shown along the way. We celebrate with them today, and we look forward with excitement to seeing all that they go on to accomplish.

The Brighter Futures Learning Partnership Trust CEOs, Mrs Redford-Hernandez and Mr Rawson commented:

A huge congratulations to every student who picked up their GCSE results today. We would also like to thank all our school staff members for their dedication, support and incredible hard work and, of course, our parents who have guided their children through the most challenging of circumstances.

We are thrilled that so many of our students secured their target grades and above; we recognise this will undoubtedly help them to secure a positive start to the next stage of their journey. It has been a pleasure to see so many young people delighted that their hard work has paid off and we look forward to seeing them celebrate their future achievements. The future is bright for this cohort of students.

Congratulations once again to the Class of 2025 – you have truly made Hungerhill proud!
