Laura Flanagan
I left Hungerhill School in 2004 and went on to further education at Hall Cross Sixth Form to study my A-Levels in Maths, Chemistry and Biology. I have danced all my life and always knew I wanted to make dance my career, so from there I went on to train professionally in Dance at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), gaining a First Class BA(Hons) in Dance (Performing Arts). Upon graduating, I worked as a freelance dancer, mainly in the style of Contemporary Dance, performing with several dance companies and touring both in the UK and internationally. Alongside this I did lots of choreographing and teaching and now teach Dance at The BRIT School for Performing Arts where I have been a permanent member of the Dance department for 10 years, teaching all styles of dance including Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz and Tap. In addition, I also work for the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) as a lecturer on their Contemporary Dance syllabus, training other teachers around the world. I am currently studying for my MSc in Dance Science (specialising in Biomechanics) at the University of Chichester.
